Turn back the clock: still some bargains in 2007, but many overpaid

Here are just a handful of names you could have bought in 2004 at prices well below their current values:

NQ.com $27,000

LH.com $27,000

Band.com $26,000

OW.com $22,250

Jacket.com $20,000

Grip.com $20,000

Loco.com $17,500

GZ.com $16,000

Warrior.com $15,000

Some commenters pointed out that prices escalated quickly after 2004 and bargains like these were harder to come by. For comparison, lets take a look at DNJournals 2007 charts.

Indeed, many domains sold for top dollar that year. The industry was flush with domain parking cash that was cycled back into domain purchases.

That years sales included Porn .com for $9.5 million, Computer.com for $2.1 million, and Seniors.com for $1.8 million.

While those are all great names, there are certainly many purchases from 2007 that are underwater. Look no further than the .mobi domains that sold for six figures.

Of course, some 2007 purchases still look like bargains. Tastes in domain names have changed over the years. Singular words are popular now, as are two-and-three-letter domains.

You could have picked up VN.com for only $100,000 that year, or paid the same amount for 15.com. Multiple two-letter .coms sold for $150,000 or less.
